    Gerloff Andries was scheepstimmerman en kwam uit Birdaard. Op 25 juli 1702 tekende hij een contract om voor tsaar Peter de Grote in Archangelsk te gaan werken. Op 8 juni 1709 wordt in het Burgerboek van Dokkum als ingeschrevene vermeld: Gerloff Andrijs. Hij is dan blijkbaar vanuit Birdaard naar Dokkum verhuisd na zijn Russische periode (ruim zes jaar). In 1709 verhuisde hij naar Dokkum en kocht daar bij "De drie Piepen" een huis met scheepshelling. Dit was bij de brug met drie pijpen ofwaterdoorlaten in het zuidwesten van de Dokkumer bolwerken, bij de huidige Vleesmarkt en het Baantjesbolwerk. In 1722 wordt hij voor het laatst als scheepstimmerman vermeld. In totaal moet hij zeker zo'n 20 jaar als zodanig hebben gewerkt in Birdaard, Archangelsk en Dokkum. Hij was gespecialiseerd in het bouwen van kleine scheepstypen (onder andere smakken). Gerloff Andries is overleden in april 1725 te Dokkum. Het "luidgeld" voor zijn begrafenis in Dokkum is op 14 april 1725 betaald. Ook uitde Autorisatieboeken (Dokkum) van 23 juni 1725 blijkt, dat hij is overleden. Na de dood van haar man verhuisde Antie Obbes naar haar geboorteplaats Sneek.
