    Pieter Wierds, schoolmeester van de meisjesschool te Appingedam (165.-1693); daarvoor vermoedelijk schoolmeester te Holwierde.

    Hij was Maegdenschoolmeester te Appingedam. Uit het kerkboek van Appingedam blijkt, dat hij sympathie had voor de doopsgezinde beweging. "Anno 1652, 1 October was consistorie: (punt) 4: is geclaeght over Pieter Wijrts, dat hij gaet in de Mennistische vergaderinge, ok seit, niet in de kerke te willen comen, ende dat hij de leere lastert. Sal ondersocht worden na getuigen van dit laetste, ende hij dan geciteert worden."

    Later is hij zelfs diaken geworden in de Hervormde kerk te Appingedam.
