    Hij was klerk bij een raadsheer, vervolgens beambte bij het Provinciaal Gerechtshof van Friesland, en in 1649 eerste deurwaarder "van de Kamer in den Rade van Friesland", terwijl hij in 1668 substituut-griffier of secretaris van het Hof van Friesland werd, waarvan hij in 1692 afstand deed ten behoeve van zijn zoon Martinus. Ook was hij ouderling, schepen en rentmeester van geestelijke goederen.

    Hij was substituut-officier van het Hof van Leeuwarden.
