    Michiel Berends (Burema), zijlvest en landbouwer, gedoopt te Zuidbroek op 18 juli 1762, zoon van Berend Michiels en Martje Fokkes, weduwe van Jan Bonnes, gehuwd met Eefke Alberts, weduwe van Homme Harkes, een mennoniete, en overleden op 12 mei 1818. Sinds 1805 of eerder was hij zijlvest van Eexta in het Termunter zijlvest. Willem Berends was zijn broer, Jantje Alberts, de moeder van Juko Nannes in Nieuw-Beerta, was een zuster van zijn vrouw, en Diewer Michiels, de tweede vrouw van Juko Nannes te Nieuw-Beerta (later te Noordbroek) was zijn dochter. Albert Berends, de schoonvader van Luitje H. Bouman te Scheemda, en vader van Ellerus Alberts te Landschapspolder was een halfbroer. In de "Groninger Courant" van 18 november 1817 staat zijn boerderij de "Vogelzang" te koop. Op 6 juli 1779 was die door Hommo Harkes aangekocht voor fl. 18.300,-.
