    Herman Valck had de collatie te danken aan zijn oom notaris Nicolaas Valck te Zevenaar, een zakenrelatie van graaf Albert. Deze notaris was ongetwijfeld een zoon van Jacob Valck en Mechtelt Verweghe, die in 1625 te Zevenaar vermeld worden. En naar alle waarschijnlijkheid moeten we in Jacob een zoon zien van de Oud-Zevenaarse pastoor Nicolaas Valck, de zoon van Jacob Valck, pastoor te Groessen, die ons zijn notities in het Kerckenboeck heeft nagelaten.

    Nicolaas Valck was rechtsgeleerde en notaris te Zevenaar. Hij overleed na 15 juli 1653.

    Op 15 Juli 1653 kreeg, op verzoek van Nicolaas Valck, een rechtsgeleerde te Zevenaar die voor de graaf van den Bergh wel als zaakwaarnemer was opgetreden, diens neef Herman Valck, "sieckentrooster” te Doesburg, de acte van collatie.
