    Vissering, a Mennonite family found since the 17th century at Leer in East Friesland, Germany. David Joosten, who died in 1709, did not yet bear this family name; his descendants, usually businessmen and wholesalers, were among the pillars of the Mennonite congregation of Leer. His sons adopted the family name of Vissering (at first also Visring).
