    Among the Swiss immigrants to the Netherlands in 1711 was Hans Thönen (Tonnen), a Reformed farmer from Frutigen, born ca. 1661, married to Catherina Ricken (Rich), who was a Mennonite. With their nine children they settled first at Deventer, but soon after near Kampen.

Frutigen 22-11-1663, ged.(Dg) Frutigen, overl. Kampen na 1748, dr. van Peter Petersen Rychen en Catrina Willen. Het gezin komt op 23 juli 1711 uit Zwitserland met 3 zonen en 6 dochters in de leeftijd van 3 tot 20 jaar. Hij is in 1711 56 jaar en staat genoteerd als gereformeerd. Zijn beroep is landman. Zijn vrouw is dopers. Het gezin behoort tot de zogenaamde "Zwitserse Doopsgezinden", die in 1711 omwille van hun geloof Zwitserland verlieten en met boten de Rijn afzakten om naar Nederland uit te wijken.
