Hij huwde met 1) Jacomina Wybes Brommersma, van Huizinge, en 2) met Hermina Habbes Sinninge. Zijn eerste vrouw was een halfzuster van Aaltje en Martje W. Brommersma en daardoor een tante van Eliz. Jans, de vrouw van Aeilke C. van Ham en van Wybe Jans Brommersma te Middelstum. Zijn zuster Sypke Lulofs was getrouwd met Luurt Freerks, zoon van Freerk Melles Doornbosch te Middelstum. Op 1 juni 1810 had hij voor fl. 16.500,- de boerderij het "Westeremder Voorwerk" gekocht met beklemming van 90 grazen.
