De grootouders van Wupcke Jans waren van moederszijde He(e)rtyen Jans en Jantien Bavingh. Dit echtpaar komt voor in de genealogie Bavinck. Over dit echtpaar was toendertijd weinig meer bekend, (dan) dat zij een "onnosele sone Daniell" en tweeniet met name genoemde kinderen hadden.
