    Johannes Leuringh, doctor in de rechtsgeleerdheid en grietman van Vredewold (het zuidelijk gedeelte van het Westerkwartier, grenzende aan Drenthe, omvattende de tegenwoordige gemeenten Marum en Leek) en van Visvliet en De Drie Waarden; geb. ong. in 1700 te Steinfurt, Duitsland, overleden ca. 1785 te Tolbert, gehuwd ong. in 1725 met Catharina Sophia Schulten, geb. ong. in 1700 te Lengerich, Duitsland, overl. ong. in 1785 te Tolbert.

    Omstreeks 1720 werden als lidmaten van de kerk van Midwolde ingeschreven Dr. Johannes Leuringh, afkomstig uit Steinfurt, Duitsland en zijn vrouw Catharina Sophia Schulten van Legerke (= Lengerich), Duitsland. Als rechtsgeleerde kreeg hij van de Heervan Nienoord een aanstelling als geconstitueerd grietman (= rechtspreker in de regio) van Vredewold en van Visvliet en de Drie Waarden, waar Von Inn- und Kniphausen eigendommen bezat. Johannes Leuringh is eigenaar van heerden en landerijen in Enumatil, Niebert, Sebaldeburen, Lettelbert, Doezum en Tolbert. Ook koopt hij op 25 februari 1754 een zestal graven in de kerk te Tolbert.
