    Jan Dircksz HOOGHSAET, kompasmaker, gedoopt (hv) circa 1577 te Nieuwe Niedorp, begraven circa 1618 te Amsterdam. Jan kreeg net als zijn vader moeilijkheden met zijn geloofsgenoten. Hij zou in zonden leven en na daarover aangesproken en vermaand te zijn geen boete willen doen (Archief 5039 inv. 91 p. 74 en Archief 5033 inv. 1 p. 366).

    Op 18 juni 1597 schrijft Jan zich in als poorter van Amsterdam. Jan is kompasmaker. Zoon van Dirck Pietersz HOOCHSAET (van Nierop) en Griet Reijertsdr. Ondertrouwd op 05‑02‑1600 te Amsterdam, gehuwd op 29‑02‑1600 te Amsterdam met Femmetje Jans BRANDARIS, geboren circa 1577, gedoopt (dg) op 23‑01‑1613 te Amsterdam, begraven circa 1624 te Amsterdam, dochter van Jan Jansz BRANDARIS, lakenkoper, en Neeltgen Willemsdr.

    De kompasmaker Jan Dircksz Hoogsaet (Nieuwe Niedorp, 1577 - Amsterdam, circa 1618) was getrouwd met Femmetje Jansdr. Brandaris (1577-ca. 1624). Oorspronkelijk was zijn naam Van Nierop, maar hij veranderde die in Hooghsaet.

    Haar grootvader was de doopsgezinde vermaner Dirck Pietersz van Nierop, stichter van de groepering de Jonge Friezen, later opgenomen in de groep die Waterlanders werden genoemd.
