    Gaaikema is a Dutch Mennonite family found in the province of Groningen. Nearly all of them were farmers. Johannes Harkes Gaaikema (1747-1825) and his son Luurt (1786-1848) lived in the hamlet of Gaaikemaweer near Niehove; both were deacons of the Humsterland Old Flemish congregation.
