    Ewe Ewesma was hoofdeling te Middelstum. Hij is mogelijk geboren in 1335 en woonde in 1371 te Middelstum op de borg. Hij ging waarschijnlijk een huwelijk aan met een Auka/Auca/Aweke en hij zou uiterlijk in 1397 zijn overleden, "toen zijn vrouw (.....) zelfstandig optrad. Auka wordt 24 mei 1404 voor het laatst vermeld. Waarschijnlijk is zij kort daarna overleden." Auka zou het familiebezit hebben uitgebreid door onder andere het "Gaycamahuis" te kopen.

    In 1390 koopt Ewo Ewesma, hoofdeling te Middelstum, een stuk land; in 1397, 1400 en volgende jaren vinden we Auke Ewisma te Middelstum, eens genoemd "nobilis matrona". Misschien was deze "matrona" de weduwe van een ouderen burchtheer van Ewsum - althans bij 't leven van Ewe treedt zij zelfstandig handelend op, zonder dat haar echtgenoot daarbij genoemd wordt.
