    Asink Abels wordt in "The Mennonite Encyclopedia" voor het jaar 1683 genoemd als voorganger bij de gemeente der Groninger Oude Vlamingen.

    The Groningen Old Flemish had the largest congregation at Sappemeer. Of the preachers of the 17th century only a few names have come down; they are Jacob Alberts and Harke Pieters, mentioned in 1681, Asink Abels in 1683.
