Boon, a Dutch Mennonite family of Sappemeer in the province of Groningen. Hendrick Coops Boon, landowner, farmer, and reclaimer of peat-moors, as were nearly all his descendants, was also elder of the Danzig Flemish Mennonite congregation at Sappemeer from ca, 1680. In 1747 his sister Jantje Coops Boon, married to the preacher Hendrik Wolters, provided that a large room on their farm should be forever at the disposal of the Danzig Old Flemish congregation for religious services. About 1760, however, the Boon family left the Danzig Mennonites to join the Groningen Old Flemish church. (Information by G. N. Schutter, Sappemeer.)
