    In de overlijdensakten van haar zoons Pieter Hendriks Hazenberg en Rommert Hendriks Hazenberg staat, dat zij Emke Berends heette. Daaruit zou je de conclusie kunnen trekken, dat zij naast haar patroniem Harms blijkbaar ook nog de achternaam Berends droeg. Het patroniem Berends (Berents) van haar vader is dus een achternaam (= versteend patroniem) geworden. Vanaf 1811 zou haar naam dus eigenlijk geschreven moeten worden als Imke Harms(dochter) Berends. In haar overlijdensakte staat ze echter nog vermeld als Imke Harms.
