Served in the Revolutionary War as a Captain under Colonel Christopher Greenup (Christopher Greenup). He commanded a Company of Virginia Militia.

Married Lucy Neville Blakemore on September 20, 1781 in Frederick County, Virginia. Came to Kentucky from Virginia with Col. Greenup following the Revolutionary War, both with large land grants and families. Thomas Bragg owned most of the land encompassing Vanceburg, Kentucky, on the Ohio River.

Lucy N. Blakemore is a descendant of Frances Ball, the aunt of George Washington.
