Notes about Lord Walter Antrobus

Walter Antrobus was born about 1554 in Knutsford, Cheshire, England, a son of William Antrobus.

He married
(1) Barbara Lawrence on 16 February 1579/80, and
(2) Joan Arnold on 8 February 1586/87.

Father of seven children.

Warden of the Shoemaker’s Company in 1588.

On 7 December 1590, he was sworn in as the Mayor's Freeman of the Company of Mercers.

On 16 September 1613, he was dismissed from the Common Council of Saint Albans due to infirmity.

At the time of his death in 1614, he was a draper or cloth merchant who had been living in quarters adjacent and above his shop.

He was buried on 5 April 1614 at the Abbey Church of Saint Alban in Saint Albans, Hertfordshire, England.

The inventory of his estate was taken on 29 April 1614. It included a joined cupboard, a court cupboard, a wainscot settle, a winged chair, two standing bedsteads (one with curtains), feather beds, a warming pan, kitchen and fireplace utensils, six silver spoons, a linen wheel, eight chests and many linens and other cloth items.
