Admiral of the Narrow Seas. Lieutenant of the Admiralty. Lord of the Manor of Great Bookham.

Resided at Sayes Court, Chertsey and Eastwick House, Great Bookham. Knighted at Chatham, July 4, 1604. MP for New Windsor, 1610. Suspected of recusancy, he was brought before the House in 1624 and lost his various naval posts over the next couple years. In 1628 he sold his property at Chertsey to the Crown for £870, and spent his final years as a country gentleman at Eastwick.
