Christopher Ward, who died Dec. 30, 13th Henry VIII., seized of tbe Manors of Guiseley, Gevendale, Newby Eskeholt (Esholt), East Keswick, Driglington, Adwalton, Usburn Magna, and Green Hammerton, leaving one daughter and three granddaughters, namely, the daughters of his daughter Anne Nevill, deceased, his co-heirs; of these the daughters then surviving was Joan, wife of Sir Edward Musgrave, of Musgrave and Harcla Castle, Cone Westmoreland, then aged 34 years, co-heir to one moiety of these estates; and Catherine, Joan, and Clara, the three daughters and co-heirs of Sir Ralph Nevill, of Thornton Bridge, Knight, by Anne Warde, deceased, joint co-heir moiety, of whom Catherine, then aged 22 years, was wife of Walter Strickland (afterwards Knight) of Sizergh, in Westmoreland; Joan, aged 21 years, was wife of John Constable, of Burton Constable, in Holderness, Esq., and Clara, aged 14, unmarried.
