Notes about Rabbi Meir Pat

Information from Yantche:

When the Germans occupied Suprasl, they took Rabbi Rabinowitz, the ritual slaughterer Meir Pat as representative Jewish leaders and pushed them on the road to Bialystok. Near Gotlib's tartak (wood fac
tory) they were forced to clean up the forest, and the S.S. started to shoot at them. According to a witness (Goldshmid?) the Rabbi Rabinowitz asked the German S.S. to take him instead of Meir Pat and this way Meir Pat managed to survive the first "Action" in Suprasl (this was witnessed by Leib Pudlowski from Lodz, Poland).
