Marten Orges, overl. Beekbergen 9-9-1626, volgens overlevering
een Zwitserse huursoldaat. 22-2-1601 Mr. Papiermaker op de
Grote (Tullekens)molen, 1606 idem op de kleine (Ruiters)molen,
die na 1629 door zijn erven wordt verkocht; 1611 koper van het
Heerengoed Boenincxervete Lieren (Arch. Geld. Rekenkamer, inv.
1551, f. 339); 1613 oprichter van de Oude molen (Altena) in
Ugchelen (zijn grafzerk is na de kerkrestauratie in het koor van de
kerk gelegd), tr. Geertgen Dircks Schut(ten), wed. van Jacop
Lucasz./Marcus, overl. na 1640. Kinderen:
1. Daniel Martens, volgt IIa.
2. Pouel Martens, volgt IIb.
Orges is geen patroniem, doch een toponiem. Hij zal afkomstig zijn
uit Orges, een plaatsje in het kanton Vaud, distrct Yverdon
(meded. d.d. 22-5-1975 van het Schweiz. Gesellschaft
fürFamilienforschug te Bern). Mevr. Dr. J. Hollestelle ontdekte in
1976 in een tijdschrift in de Historische Bibliotheek te Lausanneeen
vermelding betreffende moeilijkheden in 1536 tussen de baljuw
van Yverdon en een papiermaker in zijn district. Mogelijk is Orges
ingedeeld geweest bij één der vier Zwitserse vendels, die in 11599
bij Arnhem (Oosterbeek? CdB) lagen, voorjaar 1600 via Dordrecht
naar Nieuwpoort weerden vervoerd, daar deelnamen aan de slag
(juli) en voor een derde deel in oktober 1600 door de Staten
Generaal werden afgedankt (Ten Raa & De Bas, Het Staatsche
Leger, deel II).
