Op 6 jarige leeftijd verhuisd naar Utrecht.,waar hij de schooljaren heeft doorgebracht.
Deed in 1924 eindexamen HBS. studeerde Indologie en Rechten te Leiden en Utrecht, studeerde af in 1929.
Vertrok 31 12 1929 naar Ned.Indie,23 1 1930 werd als aspirant controleur van het Binnenlands bestuur te Kota Radja te werk gesteld, febr 1936 terug in Batavia,doorgreisd naar Hollandia
Nieuw Guinea,daarna West Borneo Atjeh Palambang Batavia Buitenzorg alwaar in 1942 geïnterneerd, bevrijd September 1945.
Toen als controleur 1e klasse gestuurd naar Katapang (Borneo) 17 6 1946. 7 10 1947,met verlof naar Nederland.
In 1947, afgekeurd voor Indische dienst, 1 7 1947 in dienst in het Rijksinstituut voor oorlogsdocumentatie.
22 12 1947 tot 1 9 1952 werkzaam als wetenschappelijk medewerker bij de Enquêtte commissie " Regeringsbeleid" 1940 1945 uit de tweede kamer 1 9 1955 tot 1 12 1956 tijdelijk schrijver A bij de stichting Administratie Indonesische Pensioenen.
Toen op wachtgeldgesteld. In Leiden Nederlandsrecht gaan studeren.
Op 31 5 1957,krijgt hij toestemming tot inschrijving en beëdiging als advocaat en procureur.
Hij heeft de praktijk uitgeoefend tot 1980.
