Diende eerst den staat als Luitenant te lande, verliet den krijgsdienst, en nam in 1837 zitting in de Schepenbank te Zutphen, werd in 1642 majoor dier stad, daarna landrentmeester van het graafschap, kreeg zitting in de generaliteitsrekenkamer, in de vergadering der Algemeene Staten.
Hij huwde 1. in 1630 Anna Catharina van Kerken; dochter van Sweer van Kerken tot Houthulsen, 2 (1639) Woltera van Brienen, dochter van Hendrik Brienen tot den Musschenberg, 'rekenmeester te Gelderland. en 3. (1651) Agatha van Oudshoorn, dochter vanDirk van Oudshoorn, heer tot Oudshoorn en Gnephoek, de laatste schonk hem 3 kinderen. Hij overleed 17 september 1677.
