Notes about Andrew Kingsford

General Notes: It has been said that the history of the Kingsford family dates back to the time of the English King, John the Usurper. King John of England reigned from 6 April 1199 until 19 October 1216.One story is that late one night King John and some of his subjects came to the brink of a rapid stream. With no means of passage at hand King John was borne over (forded) the stream on the shoulders of a stalwart subject. As a result thereafter the title for that stalwart subject was "The King's Ford". In England during those days new and quaint surnames were often given because of an act or occurance. Was the stalwart subject "The King's Ford" an ancestor of John Kingsford Sr. of Northborn, Kent, England who was born about 1511 and died about 1588?
