Notes about John Brownson

John and Hannah had a family of six children, all born in Hartford County, Connecticut. As some of his sons reached maturity, they drew lots in the Frontier country of South Carolina and left the New England for their new home in the Santee River Valley of South Carolina. Their lots were in Craven County, which is today Claredon County. John and Hannah likewise joined their family in South Carolina and this began what genealogists call the Southern branch of the Brunson family. This family changed the spelling of the name Brownson to Brunson, which will be used in this line of the family hereafter.
