Notes about Theodore Gaillard

Theodore was educated in England and was a "distinguished lawyer", according to page 10 of the Gaillard Genealogy. In 1808, he was elected Judge of the Court of Equity of South Carolina . He also served as Chancellor of the State of South Carolina. He was also the Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives (representing Christ Church Parish in the 17th & 18th General Assemblies), served "on the bench until his death", and is buried at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, near his wife, Cornelia, who was the sister of William Marshall, who was elected in 1800 as Judge of the Court of Equity in South Carolina.
