"William Sams, Sr. mentions in his will the fact that "General John Stanyarne" was his wife's grandfather (from whom she had inherited an estate) and that "John Stanyarne, Jr." was her uncle (from whom she also inherited an estate). These facts are verified in the will s of John Stanyarne, Sr. and Jr. He lived in his "Hickory Hill" home on John's Island--this "Hickory Hill" plantation is shown on old maps of the Island.
