Os bisavós maternos vieram da Itália muito jovens, na mesma embarcação, com o mesmo destino. Ele, chamado de Crespi Velho, era tenor em Milão e deixou tudo para tentar a vida no Brasil. A bisavó, Madalena, era da Toscana.

Foram viver em Ibitinga, onde se conheceram, casaram e tiveram três filhos. Carlos Crespi, avô de Érica, foi um grande empreendedor. Teve um armazém de secos e molhados, atendendo fazendeiros e colonos daquela região.

– Ele era muito generoso e conhecido.

No governo Getúlio Vargas, em meio à Segunda Guerra Mundial, perdeu tudo, com a perseguição pela sua nacionalidade. Havia a determinação de que os italianos colaborassem financeiramente com o Brasil. Passou, então, a trabalhar em uma transportadora, dirigindo caminhão.

Em meados de 65, sofreu um acidente na estrada e acabou falecendo. Coube à esposa, Luiza Mancini, terminar de criar os três filhos.

Irene, mãe de Érica, era a mais velha. Conheceu Francisco Amêndola na praça de Ibitinga. Para ficarem juntos, enfrentaram as barreiras familiares.
