Notes about Jorge de Oliveira Jobim

Jorge de Oliveira Jobim. N. em 23-ABR-1889 em São Gabriel (RS), onde iniciou seus estudos. Secundarista em Porto Alegre (RS), formou-se em Direito em 1910, no Rio de Janeiro (RJ). Seguiu carreira diplomática, tendo sido Primeiro Secretário das Legações em Quito, Buenos Aires, Lima e Valparaíso, além de Encarregado de Negócios na Embaixada Brasileira no Peru, último cargo que ocupou no exterior. Com saudades do Brasil, voltou para Porto Alegre, onde trabalhou como professor-assistente da cadeira de Direito Internacional. Poeta, escritor, crítico e jornalista, realizou confrerências literárias e colaborou na imprensa do Rio de Janeiro e de Porto Alegre. Deixou livros de poesias e trabalhos inéditos. Foi condecorado com a Ordem do Rei Leopoldo por Alberto I, Rei da Bélgica, quando este esteve visitando o Brasil. Com 36 anos, casou-se em 1926 em Porto Alegre (RS) com Nilza Brasileiro de Almeida, então com 15 anos. O casal teve os filhos Antônio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim e Helena Isaura de Almeida Jobim. Como conta sua filha Helena no livro "Antônio Carlos Jobim '96 Um Homem Iluminado", Jorge era um homem com vastíssima cultura e talento, mas profundamente angustiado, possessivo, desconfiado e ciumento. Faleceu na Casa de Saúde Dr. Eiras, no Rio de Janeiro (RJ), em 19-JUL-1935, em virtude de súbita e fulminante parada cardíaca.
