Fez os estudos básicos na Vila de Guaratinguetá-SP, com o Padre Manuel Joaquim de Oliveira, e habilitou-se para os estudos eclesiásticos em 1822. Foi ordenado presbítero do hábito de São Pedro.

Pesquisas nos Livros de Atas da Câmara de Guaratinguetá (Museu Frei Galvão) comprovam que exerceu o magistério, professor-mestre de primeiras letras da Vila de 1830 a 1846, tendo sido examinador, em 1838, da professora Maria Rita do Carmo para o exercício do cargo para meninas.

Capelão em Aparecida em 1847. No mesmo ano foi nomeado Vigário Colado da Vila de Guaratinguetá-SP, onde permaneceu até a sua morte.

Em 1852, foi convocado para ser Governador do Bispado de São Paulo, ou seja, Vigário Geral, onde permaneceu pouco tempo.

Segundo declaração do Imperador Dom Pedro II, quando esteve em Guaratinguetá, o Vigário Martiniano foi convidado e não aceitou o convite para ser Bispo, por sua modéstia. Fato que nunca revelou.

Fundador do Asilo religioso das "Irmãs do Bom Pastor", em 1856, que recebia mulheres e meninas órfãs, dando-lhes toda a assistência, certamente contando com o apoio das Senhoras da Sociedade da época.
