5-3 Alferes «b»João Garcia Leal«/b», natural da em Santa Cruz de Goiazes (Goiás), aos 24/06/1783 em Lavras, MG, Cc «u»Maria Joaquina do Espírito Santo«/u», filha de Nicolau Martins Saldanha e de Inácia Maria de Barros, np de Gregório Martins Saldanha e de Francisca de Moraes Raposo, nm de Bento de Barros Bicudo e de Maria Cardoso (ou Maria Garcia), ascendência no Título Moraes, no Vol 11o João Garcia já era fal em 1809, ano de casamento de seu filho José
Cremos que faleceu entre 1794 e 1803, vitima, segundo a tradição, de brutal assassinato cometido por sete irmãos da família Silva Foi atado a uma figueira e teve sua pele barbaramente arrancada, num lugar que, depois, ficou denominado "Tira Couro" Esse crime deu margem a famosa vingança levada a cabo por «u»seu irmão Januário Garcia Leal«/u», que perseguiu os assassinos, matando-os um por vez, e arrancando uma de suas orelhas, até formar um cordão constituído com as sete orelhas, daí o seu apelido "o Sete Orelhas" ou "Tira Orelhas"
