Michael John Reed (Source: Mom's Cousin), born June 22, 1862 in Rehrersburg, Berks, Pennsylvania (Source: Pearl Pederson.); died November 30, 1933 in Rogers, Benton, Arkansas (Source: Pearl Pederson.). He was the son of 4. Michael George Reed and 5. Catherine Anna Walborn. He married 3. Jessie Izetta Hewitt March 24, 1885 in Haddam, Washington, Kansas (Source: Pearl Pederson.)

1880 Census-Mill Creek, Washington, Kansas, Page 495C-Working as a laborer on the farm of a Charles Mohr

Living in Haddam, Kansas in 1889-1900. In the 1900 census in Haddam, Washington, Kansas-his name was spelled Mikel. Lived very close to his wife's brother, Loren Hewitt and family.

According to family stories, he and his wife Jessie didn't get on that well. Jessie was a tough woman who was a bit difficult to live with. She would repeatedly kick Michael out. Michael had wanderlust and would travel the country leaving his wife to tend the farm and the kids. It is said he didn't learn to speak English until he left Pennsylvania. He came home often enough to father 9 children though so they must have got on now and then. After the children were grown and on their own he would travel between them staying with one after the other. He was living with his son Blondie (Harold) in Arkansas when he died.
