An input from Nancy Kiddoo, 11/12/93 letter; David was NOT the son of Sam,Sr, but of his brother ANDREW, whose wife was Catherine Stoner Arnold. (Stoner is taken to mean her maiden name, it appears). This upsets the belief held by some, based on hand-me-down stories, that Samuel was the link between Johann Gorg Arnold and his grandson, David. Some real digging into letters received from "cousins" who came down from Sam,Jr and/or Sr has to be done now. Nancy cites her in- put as from Emmert Bittinger's book "Allegheny Passage", and she is quite a digger in her own right. Paradoxically, she is from the Houpt(Haupt) line that eventually tied into the Arnold branch. I have questioned about this in Feb 1994 letter to my second cousin once removed, Verlin Krabill, who is a friend of Emmert. I have asked him to list the children of both Samuel,Sr and Andrew with sources identified. Dr. Krabill lives in Burkittsville, MD and Dr. Bittinger resides nearby (VA).
