NOVEMBER 6, 1996 - INFORMATION OBTAINED FROM GENEALOGICAL NOTES ON THE SHELLY-SHELLEY FAMILY, BY E. HERMAN SHELLEY, DATED MARCH 6, 1955, BOOK TO BE FOUND AT THE LANCASTER HISTORICAL SOCIETY, NUMBER 929-2545 UNDER SHELLY FAMILY HISTORY, AND A COPY OF THIS DOCUMENT IS IN MY POSSESSION. TRADITIONALLY CORNELIUS LANE IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE SUPPLIED THE BRICK FOR THE TRINITY CHURCH IN LANCASTER AND THERE ARE THOSE WHO BELIEVE HE MAY HAVE BEEN ENGAGED IN BRICK MANUFACTURING, RATHER THAN HAVING HAD THE BRICK IMPORTED FROM ENGLAND. BY HIS WILL LANE LEFT MONEY TO THE LUTHERN AND MENNONITE CHURCH FOR RELIEF OF THE POOR. IT WOULD SEEM CORNELIUS LANE WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN HAVING JACOB SHELLY AND DANIEL SHELLY MOVE TO YORK COUNTY.
