Occupation: Mason and farmer. He came to America is 1685 and settled in Germantown, PA, with his wife, Gertrude, and their three sons, Johannes, Hermannus and Arnold. Some infor shows he died in Jan or Feb 1708. Other info shows Johannes came first in 1691 and rest of family came some- time after 1696. Probalby emegrated around 1700. He and Gertrude were sponsers at baptism of twin granddaughters in Krefeld, Germany, on December 10, 1696. Married 16 Oct 1668 in Kaldenkirchen Reformed Church, Gertrude DOORS (408), born 1645, died 1707, daughter of Theis DOORS (985) and Nees DOORS (986). Settled in Germantown, PA in 1685. They were among the first 34 settlers in Germantown. Johannes was natural- ized by Deputy Governor on May 7,1691 and was a Quaker. Or, came to America in 1684 ahead of parents and siblings. He lived in Bristol Township in 1693, moved to Skippack in 1702 and purchased land there in 1704. On petition for natural- ization 1691;granted by Queen Anne Feb 20, 1713. He married Gertrude Doors who was a Mennonite. Paulus and Gertrude came to America sometime after 1696 and settled in Germantown, Pennsylvania. They probably brought along with them, sons Arnold and Hermanus. Their son, Johannes proceeded them in coming to America and arrived about 1691. Paulus was a stonemaker and farmer. He was chosen Dec 2, 1700 a committeeman of the corporation of Germantown. He purchased 50 acres of land from Henry Bucholz Dec 4 1704. Paulus was appointed January 5, 1706, overseer of fences in Germantown. In the Philadelphia WIll Book C, page 72 , no. 58 was Paulus Kusters will. It read: Germantown in the COunty of Philadelphia, the 28th day of the 11th month called January, 1707/8, Paul Kuster, Mason, being sick in Body, but of perfect memory and disposing mind, declares before us, the hereto Subscribers, Witnesses, that his last WIll and Testament was as follows: That all his just debts be paid and that after his decease his loving wife, Gertrud Kuster, shall have all and singular his estate, real and personal, during the term of her life, and yt after ye death of ye sd. wife, the sd. his estate, real and personal, shall, nothing at all Excepted, be divided and shared among his children Equally , share and share alike. In Witnesses whereof we have hereunto set our hands and Marks. Arnold Custer, Dennis Cunders, Harmanus Kuster, Johannes Kuster, the mark of Cornelius Dewees. Endorsed Philad.
