Jacques was hofmeester op de SS Tjileboet. Dat schip vertrok op 7 november 1942 vanuit Swansea (Wales) naar Kaapstad en werd op 28 november voor het laatst gezien. Het schip werd ergens op de Atlantische Oceaan getorpedeerd, de volgende gegevens zijn beschikbaar over de laatste reis: Tjileboet SS was a Dutch cargo steamer of 5,760 tons built in 1918. On the 29th November 1942 when on route from SWANSEA, due BAHIA 4th December 1942. She was torpedoed by U-161 and sunk. All the crew (62) were lost.
