From Ancestors and Descendants of William Henry Lawrence 1850-1924 and his wife Martha Mary Ann Ham 1848-1898 as compiled and printed by Robert Dean Lawrence, Wichita Kansas in 1986. "When Mandy Lawrence was about 10 years old, she went to live with her sister, Lizzie Stillwell, and her family who lived near the top of a hill near Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Once, Lizzie sent Mandy down the hill to the Kittrell home on an errand. As Mandy neared the place, she was met by several dogs who were barking furiously. Henry (Harrison) Kittrell, then about 12, came out to meet her and to call off the dogs......About 8 years later, Mandy again went to the Kittrell home on an errand and this time it was Henry's brother, Joe, who chased away the dogs. Henry soon came running though and enthusiastically welcomed the pretty young visitor. When she had gone, Henry told Joe that she would be the future Mrs. Kittrell if he could get her. At that time, Henry was engaged to another young woman whom his mother (Sarah Jane Hinkle) did not like. Henry soon broke the engagement though and started visiting the Stillwell family regularly. He and Mandy were married about a year later." [They were married almost 70 years before Mandy died in 1978.]
