Mrs. Blanche Taylor Harris, 93, former longtime resident of Mooresville Pike, died Sunday, September 14, 2003 at Shelby Ridge Nursing Home in Alabaster, Alabama.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday at West Seventh Street Church of Christ with Ted Burleson, David Davidson and John Harris officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to West Seventh Street Church of Christ. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.
The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Ernest Taylor and Lena Kittrell Taylor. She was married for sixty-four years to John W. Harris, Sr. who preceded her in death September 10, 1998. She was a graduate of Hampshire High School and David Lipscomb College and taught school before her marriage. She was a former member of the Riverside Garden Club and the Mooresville Pike Home Demonstration Club. She was a member of West Seventh Street Church of Christ and was a co-founder and active member of the Virginia Parks Bible Class for many years.
She is survived by two sons, John William (Linda) Harris, Jr. of Alabaster, Alabama, Philip Kittrell (Michelle) Harris of Beverly Hills, California; three grandchildren, John Taylor Harris of Brentwood, Christopher Kittrell Harris of Beverly Hills, California, Mrs. Mary Catherine (Jeffery) Harris Turner of Smyrna; one brother, James Ernest Taylor of Indianapolis, Indiana; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Virginia Taylor of Columbia; one niece, Sherry Taylor Allen; two great-nieces, Rachel Allen (Drake) Stanfill, Heather Allen (Alan) Tettleton; two great-great nieces, Lauren Elizabeth Tettleton, Sarah Grayson Stanfill; one great-great nephew, William Drake Stanfill.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry Kittrell Taylor, George Edward Taylor, and Glenn Warren Taylor.
Pallbearers will be John T. Harris, Christopher Harris, Jeffery Turner, Carl Sellers, David Kirk, Jimmy Kirk, Clifton Willis, Wayne Phillips, Neil Ford, Bryan Basham, Ken Cooper and Gary Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present elders and deacons of West Seventh Street Church of Christ, members of the Virginia Parks Bible Class, Dr. Linda Monroe, Dr. Timothy Real and William Haywood.
