Charles O. Kittrell, Sr., 74, Topeka, died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Kittrell graduated from Topeka High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and fought in the Korean War. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a yard master for 35 years.
He was born April 24, 1928, in Topeka, the son of Emery Franklin and Mabel Thompson Kittrell.
Mr. Kittrell was a member of the Moose Lodge.
He married Marjorie Ann Ausherman on Jan. 22, 1949, in Baltimore, Md. She died July 29, 1997. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Mae Jack.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathie Kay Jack, Topeka; a son, Charles O. Kittrell Jr., Salina; and a granddaughter.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Parker-Price Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Fort Riley U.S. Army Detail will conduct military honors. Mr. Kittrell will lie in state at the funeral home after 1 p.m. today, the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Galveston Shriners Hospital Burn Center, 815 Market St. Galveston, TX, 77550-2725.

Charles O. Kittrell was born on April 24, 1928 to Emery Franklin Kittrell and Mabel O. Thompson Kittrell. He attended State Street Elementary, Holiday Junior High and was a 1946 graduate of Topeka High School. He joined and was a proud member of the United States Marines after graduation from high school. He was stationed in Baltimore, Maryland, where he met and married Marjorie Ann Ausherman on January 22, 1949. He served in Korea during the Korean war from 1950 - 1952. After proudly serving his country, he returned to the states and was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad for the next 35 years retiring from there in 1968. After retirement, Charles and his wife traveled extensively all over the United States and the world seeing many exciting things and enjoying each other's company. Charles and his wife were the proud parents of three children: Kathie Kay born April 17, 1951; Julie May born October 17, 1952; and Charles, Jr. born September 12, 1960. They also were the proud grandparents of one granddaughter: April Dawn Jack born January 30, 1987. Charles was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie who passed away July 29, 1997 and his daughter Julie who passed away July 28, 1993. He is very much missed by his daughter, granddaughter and many neighbors and friends, but know he is in a better place with his parents, wife, daughter, and a host of other friends and relatives who have gone before him and embraced him with open arms and loving hearts.

Jamie Vasquez Poduba, 28, of Fontana, Kansas, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2003 at the home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 3, 2003 at the Wilson & Son Funeral Home, Paola; burial in, Fontana Cemetery, Fontana, Kansas. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may call 6 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Wilson & Son Funeral Home. Jamie Vasquez Poduba was born February 11, 1975, in Paola, Kansas to James and Janice Kittrell Vasquez. She attended the Paola High School and graduated in 1993. In 1993 Jamie was united in marriage to Michael Pobuda in Beagle Kansas, this later ended in divorce. She formerly worked for a short time as a data processor for the PDA Software company in Lenexa. Her hobbies were reading books, spending time with her son and family, and as a youth Jamie was very active in sports. She was preceded in death by her paternal grand parents, Manuel and Sally Vasquez, and Maternal grandfather Charley Kittrell.
Survivors include her Son, Michael James Pobuda of Hillsdale, Kansas, Mother, Janice Cornett, and husband Brian, Fontana, Kansas; Father, James Vasquez, and step mother Wendy Paola, Kansas; Sister, Mindy Vasquez, Overland Park, Kansas; Sister, Niki Haley, Olathe, Kansas; Sister, Kerby Cornett , Fontana, Kansas; Half-sister, Cadi Cornett, Fontana, Kansas; Brother, Lake Vasquez, Paola, Kansas; Brother, Aaron Vasquez, Paola, Kansas; Maternal Grandmother, Helen McBride, Louisburg, Kansas, and Nephew Brennan Haley of Paola.
