    Kittie Mae Williams Pruitt, Henderson, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 12, 2010.

    She was 99 (and a half) years old. Kittie was born on Aug. 18, 1910, in Henderson and moved to Texas in 1999 to be near her daughters.

    Kittie retired from Corydon Elementary School in 1980 after serving as head cook for 29 years. She had many hobbies and talents, including painting, crocheting, writing poetry and other crafts. She won many awards and ribbons throughout her lifetime. As Kittie grew older and lost her eyesight, she continued to enjoy her love of painting by using her finger to complete many beautiful paintings. Her legacy will live on through hundreds of beautiful things she created and has left to her family and friends.

    She was a current member of First Baptist Church in Burleson, Texas, and a past member of Corydon Missionary Baptist Church, Audubon Baptist Church and Wilson Station Sunday School, where she was a pianist. She will be fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

    Kittie was the second oldest of five children born to Garland and Winnie Williams.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings, Austin Williams, Bessie Lee Wilkerson, Retus Williams and James Williams; two sons, Richard "Dick" Pruitt and Billie Neal Pruitt; and one son-in-law, Charles Griffin, formerly of Henderson.

    Survivors include two daughters, Carelton Griffin Weaver and her husband, Harrell Weaver, of Crowley, Texas, and Hazel Hershey and her husband, Elmer Hershey, of Houston, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Pruitt of Henderson; nine grandchildren, Terry Pruitt, Darla Pruitt Oliver, Debbie Pruitt Powell, Clarence "Griff" Griffin, April Griffin Smith, Neil Hershey, Stephanie Hershey, Kathy Weaver Shaw and Lynette Weaver Rice; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Services will be at noon Friday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. The Rev. Garland Wilkerson will officiate. Burial will be at Fernwood Cemetery.

    Friends may call after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
