HENDERSON - Mary Pendergrass Kittrell, 94, of 428 Bobbitt St. died Friday, May 7, 2004, in a local nursing home. A native of Vance County, she was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Mary Thompson Pendergrass and was the widow of Elmore Theodore Kittrell.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the North Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Robert Elwood. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
She is survived by five daughters, Edith Carol K. Roberts, Mary K. Parrish, Sharon K. Foster, Dorothy K. Matthews and Peggy K. Gupton, all of Henderson; two sons, Frank Thomas Kittrell and Elmore Theodore "E.T." Kittrell Jr., both of Henderson; 20 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 until 8:30 at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Dorothy K. Matthews, 722 Boddie St.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Al Bolton, Eugene Parrish, Dennis Boone, Chris Kittrell, George Kittrell Jr. and Daniel Parrish. Honorary pallbearers will be Preston Parrish, Keith Boone, Brant West, Justin Harp and Wayne Kittrell.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Vance County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 914, Henderson, N.C. 27536.
Arrangements are by the J.M. White Funeral Home.
