The Cairo Messenger, January 24, 1919
Vannie Mae Arline A Victim Of Influenza

Last Friday afternoon about three o'clock little Vannie Mae Arline was called
to her Heavenly home after an illness of only one week. Influenza with
complications was the cause of her death.

She is the second daughter of Dr. and Mrs. T. J. Arline, about 13 years of
age. When about eight years of age she joined the Methodist church. She loved
the church and was devoted to its activities. She was a beautiful little
character, full of cheer and sunshine at all times. She always had a
pleasant "Good morning" and a sweet smile for every passer by. Such a life to
us seemed all too brief but she lived so well and unselfishly, that no doubt
the Master calls it great.

The funeral and burial services were held at the local cemetery at 3:30
o'clock, Saturday afternoon. Rev. J. G. Christian and Dr. J. A. Wynne leading
the services.
