1909 Grand Rapids City Directory: living at 224 Highland Avenue, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Veteran of World War I, he was gassed during the war. He died at age 33 from tuberculosis.
When he died he was president of the K&B Stores, a chain of grocery stores. J.L. Bailey was vice president. There were about 30 stores. Mother (Nina) sold out to C. Thomas who had a larger chain of stores. As part of the deal, I was told, he was to make sure that I (son John Henry) went to college. That didn't happen but he did give John a job in one of his stores.
