In 1755 neemt hij een ijzersmederij naast de Wijnberg over.

Bij zijn overlijden wordt de klok een half uur geluid (voor 5 gulden) en bij zijn begrafenis in de Martinikerk, 17 oktober 1782 luidt de klok een uur (voor 12 gulden). De kist waarin hij ter aarde wordt besteld kost 33 gulden, terwijl normale kisten de helft of een derde kosten.
