Als minister van Verkeer en Waterstaat reikte Annemarie Jorritsma in Den Haag de onderscheiding Lid in de Orde van Oranje Nassau uit aan de priester Christ Eijsermans, zoon van Peter Eijsermans en Helena Spapens. De geestelijke kreeg deze versierselen vanwege zijn verdiensten op pastoraal, maatschappelijk en sociaal-cultureel gebied. In 1946 werd deze Goirlenaar in Udenhout tot priester gewijd. Tot 1960 woonde hij in verschillende kloosters en was hij rondtrekkend predikant. Tussen 1959 en 1974 was hij aalmoezenier bij verschillende luchtmachtonderdelen. Zijn rang was sedert 1968 gelijkgesteld aan luitenant-kolonel.
Sinds 1975 werkt Eijsermans als aalmoezenier van de binnenvaartschippers. Vanaf 1990 werkt hij vanuit een drijvende parochie in Geertruidenberg. Dit schip doet tevens dienst als sociaal-cultureel centrum, waar elke week zo'n 100 personen komen. Verder maakte hij zich sterk voor de opzet van maatschappelijke en sociale zorg en voor evenementen. Dat heeft er in geresulteerd dat eenzamen en zieken worden bezocht, dat er een activiteitengroep is voor alle leeftijden en dat er een blibliotheek is gekomen.
