    Andries Tenburg is geboren op 13 juni 1867 in Zuidlaren, als zoon van Jan Tenburg en Trientje Sikkens. Hij trouwde op 8 februari 1890 in Vries met Aaltje Broeksma. Na haar overlijden hertrouwde hij op 10 juni 1905 te Zuidhorn met Jansje Beijering.
    Na eerder les te hebben gegeven op scholen in Zuidlaren, Anloo, Odoorn en Hollandscheveld, werd Andries Tenburg met ingang van 1 mei 1899 hoofdonderwijzer van de buurtschapsschool in Loozen-Den Velde. Enkele maanden eerder had hij laten weten dat het ontbreken van een onderwijzerswoning in Den Velde geen belemmering was om hem te benoemen. Eventueel zou hij zelf wel een woning bouwen. Tenburgs tweede echtgenote Jansje Beijering werd in 1902 benoemd tot onderwijzeres aan de school in Den Velde. Het huwelijk duurde maar kort. Jansje Tenburg-Beijering overleed in 1907.

Tenburg, oud-hoofd der school te Den Velde. Vrijwel alle ouders der schoolgaande kinderen uit Den Velde waren aanwezig om de overledene de laatste eer te bewijzen. Een krans van de schoolkring Den Velde werd aan de lijkwagen gehangen. Op het kerkhof werden allen in de gelegenheid gesteld om de overledene nog even te zien, waarvan allen gebruik maakten [bron: De Vechtstreek].
