    Geertruid Couwael had de banden, die haar broer Simon
    de Oude reeds met de Kievit's had aangeknoopt, nauwer
    aangehaald door haar huwelijk met IJsbrand Arentsz. Kievit,
    waarvan zij 28 Maart 1576 op het stadhuis kennis gaf als
    reeds voltrokken zijnde. Zij was de moeder van Arent
    IJsbrandtsz. Kievit, de schrijver van het toen zoo bekende
    Roomsch-Katholyck Memorybouck en de grootmoeder van
    de bisschoppen Adriaen en Pieter van Walenburch, kinderen
    van haar dochter Anna en Cornelis van Walenburch. Hoewel
    haar gezin een sterke katholieke kleur 2) moet hebben gehad,
    was haar man IJsbrand Arentsz. tusschen 1583 en 1604 meermalen
    schepen.
