Notes about Boleslav II "Pobozny of de Vrome" van Bohemen

Van de dood van zijn vader Boleslav I in 967 tot zijn dood in 999 hertog van Bohemen.
Onder zijn bewind werd in 973 het bisdom Praag opgericht. Het viel onder de jurisidictie van het aartsbisdom Mainz en de eerste bisschop was de Saksische Detmar. De tweede, vanaf 982, was de heilige Adalbert van Praag.
Als bondgenoot van de opstandige hertog Hendrik II van Beieren werd Boleslav door keizer Otto II verslagen maar behield zijn land. Hij buitte de zwakte van het naburige Polen uit door zijn rijk te vergroten. Hij onderwierp in 995 heel Bohemen door Libice te bestormen en het rivaliserende geslacht der Slavnikiden uit te roeien.
