Ossel is een gehucht met dorpskarakter in Brussegem.
De belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden in dit gehucht zijn de driebeukige Sint-Jan-de-Doperkerk, het kasteel van Ossel (ca. 1630, herbouwd in 1706, ca. 1765 en 1859), het Hagenkasteel en de omheinde pastorie uit 1758 met aanpalende tuin.
Brussegem, een van de deelgemeenten van hoofdplaats Merchtem, ligt op ongeveer 10 km van Brussel in de Belgische provincie Vlaams-Brabant. De patroonheilige van Brussegem is Sint-Stefanus.
Vroeger was dit dorp een aparte gemeente, in 1977 is Brussegem gefuseerd met Merchtem. De parochie Oppem (met de wijk Amelgem) werd bij Meise gevoegd. Brussegem kent een zeer lange geschiedenis die teruggaat tot de Frankische tijd, wanneer het dorp Brussingaheim werd gesticht.
Het centrum van Brussegem heeft een laat-gotische kerk, de Sint-Stefanuskerk, gebouwd in de 16e eeuw en 17e eeuw. Tevens bevindt er zich het pas gerenoveerde, voormalige gemeentehuis dat nu als bibliotheek fungeert. In 2005 telde Brussegem ongeveer 3000 inwoners.
